    Hi All

I cant seem to stop fiddling with my tank. I was watching my fish swim in the current earlier and I noticed that there is a whole bunch of little air bubbles on a few pieces of my live rock?

I also have air bubbles underneath certain parts of my live rock. Can some one please advise why this would happen and what to do i need to do to rid myself of this problem.

    Thank you:)

thats a little hard to pin point from the description you have given im afraid. It sounds like it might be 'micro bubbles' which are normally sourced in a poorly set up sump and blown into the display tank via the return pump. But im not sure that you have a sump, if you do, look to see if there are tiny (i mean tiny) bubbles in the return water, or if the level of the last chamber where the return pump sits, is so low that the return is sucking air (but you will also hear if it is).

It could also be from power heads in the tank sucking air as they are too close to the surface (again obvious)

or it coukld be the result of algae and or cyano bacteria photosynthesising but you dont mention those as problems?

Lets see a pic of your sump first...

-But from MY experience bubbles get into the DT if your skimmer is pushing out bubbles close to your return chamber(meaning the skimmer bubbles arent getting a chance to pop before they sucked up again)
-Maybe your return pump is running dry
-Maybe your over flow is spashing into your sump and those bubbles are getting into your return(similar to the skimmer bubbles possibility)

I know all these possible reasons are true because i experianced them all on my very first tank.

Crispin has your most likely explanation.

I dont have a sump. Ive got a hang on skimmer. I think my wave maker could be sucking air though.
