    Hi all, i have a Boyu Tl550.
a red algae has been growing a lot, it comes off very very easy, but appears very quickly too, on the glass and pump and everything.
also i have these tiny bubbles in my tank now, neevr had these tiny bubbles before, recently remove the std skimmer and put on a hb1000 reef octo skimmer, could it be the skimmer causing these small bubbles in the tank? or is it something else, these bubbles stcik to the algae on the back wall and onto the rocks. and if you get up close to the tank you can see the water if full of the little bubbles, looking like a tank full of sprite.

what can i do to get rid of these bubbles?

Whatkind Bra! Like Wes says, It could possibly to be a PO4 and NO3 problem you have there. What are your water parameters around this. Also post some pic's so we can see and be able to advise you better.
    Cheers

Just tested water, phosphates is good. Nitrates is high.
Yes I have purigen and phosguard at the back.
I have 2 x 3000ltr/hr sunsun pumps in there. That's loads of flow for this tank isn't it?

What you guys recommend for lowering the nitrates? I feed flakes daily and frozen food twice a week.

Add lots of carbon to remove dissolved organic compounds.

Could it not be the algae itself creating the bubbles. Same thing happens in
Freshwater tanks when ideal conditions are present algae will grow very fast and
they create small Oxygen bubbles. Also known as pearling.

    Cyano does that.

Not the skimmer. I have the same one. Bubbles created by it disperse in the back compartments before it reaches tank.

Unless you have inlets hanging in your tank and not in sump which i doubt

Very interesting, i have a planted aquarium too, never thought about the algae pearling, so the algae must be reall happy too hey.lol.
I am going to get some NOPOX by the weekend and see what happens from there, will update, not going to fiddle with skimmer at all just yet. @JS lokl, my wife was sitting in front of my tank last night singing a 'tiny bubbles' song, lol.

anyone have any idea what red sea NOPOX costs? have some other items to get, hoping the weekend is not going to be too expensive.

I do have the octo hangon yes. @mornewil, correct, the return is in ther second last chamber at the back, not in the display tank area. thats why its weird.
i think G DP may very well have the answer here, but we will see.
