Tinfoil reflector :)

    Well I got some 54W T5 twin lights for R260 including 6400K globes!

    any case the are open & not bought from a Pat shop so had to make a reflector only had tin foil well it works no more light in my eyes LOL!!

    sounds like a bargain! foil with its crinkles give a shimmery look to water at all?

    I am running fans on which is moving the water around does not look like the water is shimmery! try it takes a few seconds to cover the florecents

    hey vatso nice man just one word i have for you :CORROSION

    lol seriously just keep a watch on it.I found that the normal t5 fittings corrode very easily in our tanks...the fan will help though:thumbup: oh yes and foil does work ive been using it for three years before i got my reflectors but replace once every few months or else it corrodes and aluminium is not something we really want in our reef tanks.

    as for the 6400k globe they will work but dont make your corals or tank look very nice unfortunately so change them as soon as you can to 10000k or 120000k

    a good globe to get which isnt too expensive is the osram 880 54w t5 ,ask your local electrical wholesaler if they can order it for you in the new year.

    if so then try to mount the control gear not in the hood;)

    I have no hood - removed it the lights are longer then the tank :)

    they are 1.2M & the tank is only 1M
