Hi I recently purchased two radiant timer plugs for my lights but they seem to work for two or three days then just stop. Is ther any other more reliable timer plugs on the market?

What lights are you running off them, metal halides? If so then you may need to use a contactor.

Agreed. The trouble is caused by the back EMF created in the ballasts when the MH's switch off. Confirm that your timers are rated for an INDUCTIVE load when you buy new ones. I can confirm that the Major brand of digital multi-timer plug can handle a 150W or 250W MH load, but not a 400W load.

I have tried many timers mainly on T5's the R200 to R600 types and all of them have not lasted, Bought 4 of those exspensive ones and they only lasted 18-24 months. Anyone recomend a good timer?

Have you actually tried this "Major" brand timer?

If this does not work, then the only solution is to use a mechanical timer/switch, rather than an electronic one...

I use the major brand digital timer and run both my 250W halides off of 1. It has now been going for 10 months and I have had no issues yet.

major tech timers work very well, i have used them on my AM 2 x 150w + 2 x 54w T5 for years now no hastle at all.. i have recently upgraded to a more effiecient digital timer that will offer me different lighting cycles for different days but the old analogue ones did just fine in their time barring the loss of memory when the power goes out..

I'm using Major Tech Digital timers since I started. Never any issues. And you can set multiple different options.
