Tidal Waves in Durban

    howzit crew
    theres rumours going around that tidal waves will be hitting Durban soon.i beleive it was in the newspaper and over the air.can anyone confirm this?

    Don't worry Mekaeel, your on the 13 or 14th floor. Actually if it is the 13th floor maybe worry if you are superstitious.

    I can't find anything on news24.com, pretty sure they would have had something about it. Was there an earthquake somewhere?

    yeah.i beleive about 2 weeks back there was an article in the daily news that the waves were comming soon and the municipality was gonna place sandbags along the beach to prepare for it.

    i saw something like that on the news... my surfing buddies and i were in a frenzy in anticipation for the coming swell but it never really materialised..... east london doesnt hold big swell that well so we were on call to travel to either J-bay or kei mouth depending on the swell direction.....

    It is not tidal waves. It was merely the equinox tide (very high high tides and low low tides). Was combined with a predicted strom awell which did not come through. Nothig to worry about yet Mekaeel - give sea level rise a few more years......
