Ok this is my Project. I bought this tank not to long ago. It was laying in the back of this bloke’s garden with refuse in it. Now i use it for storage, The sump is inside the main tank so is some of my lights and Pipe fitings and so on.

I'm working on a shoestring budget. So I’m doing the work my self. (My 1st DIY thing)

I started to sand down the steel frame, painted it about 4 coatings.

I'm building the cabinet from old solid pine I had laying around my garage. (A LOT of sanding LOLLOLOLO).

This is where I'm now. I still need to add 2 more coatings to get it nice and glossy.

Another garage as neat as mine...:)

Only thing I will do with the stand is bracing the corners. Not needed, depending on steel thickness. Little 50mm triagular welded into the corner. Will prevent flexing or tank moving when moving the magnets against the glass.

But then you have to re-paint....:(

Yes. I don’t have a lot of time for cleaning, Scuba, Mountain biking, Surf (But boy do I suck at this); Body boarding…… And then some. Oh yes and work all of this keeps me well occupied. I clean only when I need the space. LOLOLOLOL. Repaint isn’t the problem, it is part of the cabinet it keeps up the lid and lights.

Not sure if painting alone will prevent it to rust. I painted my previous light stand a couple of coates and it still rusted. The best is to either powder coat or to galvanise the steel.
