I have used this method to slowly reduce po4 from 1ppm to 0,1ppm in a large aquarium. The application is tricky because of the need to contain the reaction in a sump with a proper postfilter to catch the flocs produced. also the rate of addition must not exceed the availability of po4 in the reaction chamber as no prefilter will stop dissolved lacl from reacting somewhere else.. like in the display and this can effect tangs and surgeons and who knows what else.
