The inevitable happened today

    Hey guys
    Today i got that dreaded phone call from my wife,get home NOW! your tank is leaking.got home and sure as damit the silicone at the back right hand corner pulled away and the flood was on.I emptied half the water out the tank and repaired the tank with dow corning 781 silicone.Im going to give it a day or two before i fill up again.Lets hold thumbs

    You say the seam has opened. In tjis case the whole glass pane has to be removed,cleaned and than resiloned. The way you say good luck but I think its never going to work. You also need at least 2 weeks for the silicone to fully cure.

    Wow, really sorry to hear of your misfortune - I hope that your livestock are all OK...

    thanx for all the good wishes guys,all livestock is fine just waiting for silicone to cure,i got hold of Sam at Sams Aquariums and he advised me to not empty the tank all the way,just to cut through old silicone,clean and dry area between the two panes and force the silicone through from the outside untill it comes out on the inside,using tape to pull the two glass panels together and neaten up. says he does it all the time with great success,so now ill wait untill saterday and then fill up again:thumbup:
