my latest addition to my tank is a very nice looking Rock Blenny. I know that they are sometimes referred to as the Algae or Lawnmower Blenny and that they are algae eaters.

However, I am concerned about the one I got because I do not see him eating any flakes, prepared/frozen foods and I also don't see him chomping away at algae, he just spends most of his time swimming (low down) along the base of the front glass pane.

Any comments or experiences ? Should I be concerned ?

Mine has never eaten any of foods i give.

Just picks on rocks and glass when he feels like it. He is actually very lazy.

    Imo wouldn't stress to much.

I've gone through two of these guys and currently have my third.

First one jumped out and was biltong when I found him. but the second never once in the few weeks I had him ate algae that I saw. I did see him try eat frozen foods and he got skinnier. Next thing he was a floater.

I think it's a hit and miss thing with them.

Monitor its size carefully. you will quickly notice when it starts losing weight.

Third one is happy as can be, munching algae and cruising around happily but they are lazy as hell.

Mine i have now for about 3 months.

Never saw him going for prepared food as they are apparently more finicky eaters than Mandarins.

Mine is fat and lazy, he eats the algae growing on my glass and rocks and also going after GHA but i dont have much of that in my tank now, ill try and get n pic of him, he is very fat.

they eat off the rocks etc, but he will eat.

also note that these can nip at corals, but thats very rare, they love algae, so put some nori in the tank
