My new Midas Blenny, two weeks in my DT, not quarantined!

Good colors, swims around all day long, eats until he looks like his 9 months pregnant.

Tonight I noticed a few white spots on him. Everything else is still the same. So I assume it's ich. Read the posts on MASA, seems hypo salinity and the bucket method tops the pops. Set up my hospital tank with small heater, pvc pipes and an air filter (permanently in my sump for emergencies) and mix some DT water until it's at 1.009. Wait for the temp to rise and quickly catch the Midas to transfer (with acclimatization) to the Hospital tank.

No go. I can't catch him. Not even close.

What now. The other fish all look good, but I'm really worried.

    Bangai Cardinal
    Long Nose Hawkfish
    Fire Fish
    False Lemon Peel Angel
    Diamond Head Goby

All eating well, no spots visible.

    Now what?

does he dash into a little hole in the rocks?

you can lift out that rock and hold it just above the water in QT tank, so that the fish can see the water. Slight dip now and then, to proof to the fish that their is water close by. Sooner or later he will slip out to the tank. If it does not work then place the rock for a minute in the tank so that he can breath again. Can also keep a net in the water under the rock so that when he does slip out, you already got him.

    Thanks @RiaanP

He hides in a hole in a rock at the very base of my scape. I will literally have to move everything to get that rock out. I'm going to try a surprise ambush with a flashlight and my net a little later.

My midas im my previous tank was the last fish i could catch! They just never get out that little hole once the know you want to catch them!
I litteraly had to remove every single rock until he swam into the last rock which i could pick up & shake him out into the bucket!
My advice would be to just keep your midas in the tank & keep feeding your fish healthe & rnriched frozen foods. I managed to rid my tank of ich (contrary to popular believe) of ich by keeping my fish super healthy over a period of time. I still dont have ich in that tank to date!

Lol, doesnt work eather... Problem is, they sleep inside the little hole, so you will very unlikely catch him outside at night.

Thanks @Visser. I may be forced to go that way. If any of the others become ill I might dismantle and hospital the whole lot.

I'm feeding Super Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, Lobster eggs and Reef paste. Going to start mixing some garlic and Formula 2 pellets into the paste tomorrow. All meals should have garlic and the False Lemon needs more green.
