So I ordered a stc-1000 from a site after a super hot day about 3 weeks ago and realized I need to do something before summer actually comes. A week after the order I contacted them to ask when it will arrive, they said due to me being in an outlying area it will take longer. Another week goes by and I phone again and they have issues with stock and apparently the one they had was not working. So very frustrated, I asked for a refund, which I did receive. And now a week after that, this thing arrives. Anyone have any clue how it works? It's not an stc 1000, but I Ringder RC-116M. Diagram looks completely different from the stc. I need help to figure out whether this thing is worth the effort. It says it does have a cool and heat function.

From my understanding it can only do one of the two.

SO did you get it for free?

If it can only do one of the 2 then use it for cooling I would say.

Ja, well it's the least they can do to say sorry for some very bad service, haha. I'm torn between using it for the fan, or for a potential heater malfunction!

I've got one of these boyu fans.

I'd say fan. Summer Temps are going to affect your tank daily, where as a heater failure is unlikely if you have a decent one Eg ehiem. You can always order another stc for the heater aswell

That's usually to cool the light fixture, not so much cooling the water.

The controller in the beginning of the post functions the same way as the stc, but can only do either heating or cooling control. Will see how just controlling the fan works out with this controller. Will get in touch otherwise to order the stc Andre. I will fell much safer having the heater controlled as well.
