    Hi guys

I used to have a TDS meter that had a small "cup" in the unit with a water level to test my RO. I now have one like in the picture below and was wondering what amount of water should I use when testing? I tested a 25L drum with fresh RO yesterday and the reading was 005. I then poured a little bit in a cup and the reading was 002.

Secondly, using this new meter, at what TDS reading should the filters be changed?

Theoretically, it should make no difference, provided that the containers are both 100% clean (virtually impossible). These divices are not nessessarily spot on, rather think of the reading as nice and low with room for improvement.:)

Don't worry too much about slight fluctuations.

re changing filters, if you continually get more than you want consider changing the di resin, then the other filters, ending with the ro membrane as this is the most expensive part and the one that should last a number of changes of the other filters.

Agreed, I have had 2 of the TDS pens, admittedly the slightly cheaper ones :whistling: but they have always never given the exact same reading even when testing the same water straight away. Don't be stressed about the numbers, use it as a guideline and allow for fluctuations of a couple of digits.

Thanks Viper. I've always used it as a guideline anyway. This one working slightly differently than the previous one I wanted to check. I've had bad expriences with old RO units. Not easy to fix.

im positive they were not waterboy units as we hardly have issues...and if we do....sorted overnite;)

t.d.s meters are calaberated diferantly hence you may get differant readings
