Okay, my tank has finished cycling and I have been having fun slowly adding all sorts of thing and last night all shorts of shenanigans occurred...

    1) I caught the hitch-hiker crab and it is looking for a good home. (My Boyu TL550 has no sump)

    and

    2) my leather (which one is it??) was taken out!! I can only blame the frogspawn!! It has since swopped places with the Ricordea rock... Will it recover??

The frogspawn is pretty far. Have a look at it at night to see if you can see sweeper tentacles. Not all of them send out sweepers.. Lol I would send the crab grass surfing.. Maybe theres someone with a predator tank close by

The ricordea and the leather have swopped places in the photo since the leather was stung. The leather was definitely in the path of the tentacles  Will it recover?

Actually, after looking at the full tank photo posted above, the other frogspawn (neon green under the night light) to the right is also looking rather shy of the larger frogspawn... can different frogspawn (?) sting each other ?

In my experience i think it will, my torch coral got hold of the leather and had similar scaring, not as much though, and it recovered well, so i think you should be ok.

No carbon at the moment by my parameters are pretty much spot on... Should I add carbon anyway?

The leather should recover, my corals are constantly beating each other and I'm yet to have one suffer a fatal sting, but I do separate them at the first signs of trouble. Why don't you put the frogspawn down on the bottom and the leather higher up? The frogspawn doesn't need strong light and it will be pretty happy to be low down. The crab looks similar to an emerald crab, except for the black claws and a general rule of thumb is that black claws = an evil crab lol.

And on the carbon side yeah I'd advise that you add some, I always run carbon in my tank, it will polish the water and remove most toxins. Not running carbon in your tank can potentially do a lot more harm than running it would so its always best to have it, just make sure you change it as per the recommendations to prevent it releasing any gunk back into your tank once its exhausted.

And make sure you use a good quality carbon.

things seem to be improving after the re-scpaing and the leather is definitely looking better. Two of the tips are still white (not blue anymore) anything else I can do?
