So here goes my first queries :)

    1) I have seen you can get polishing kits to polish out the minor scratches. My tank is at least 3 years old. No major scratches but the stand is custom for it , and it is a funny shape. Has anybody seen anything like this available in SA??

    2) My aquarium was a fresh water tank orginally ,now I am going to have to plan the conversion but I definitely want to use a sump in the cabinet below. Do I have to have holes drilled through the bottom of the tank ( which could crack the glass with no guarantee) or can my piping run up and over the sides into the tank if you know what I mean?? sump to tank wont be more then 5ft of tubing/piping.

    Thanks for any info everyone!

Mickey. Post a pic of your tank so we can have a look. You don't have to drill the tank. You could go with an overflow which you just hook on the back of the tank. You can either build one or buy one.

welcome, my personal preference is to drill, hang on overflows do work well in an ainstance where a tank is already up and running and needing a sump to be added.

as for the scratches, being someone who worked for pg glass there was no miracle product only braso which offered very little consolation.. hopefully in my time away from the glazing trade a solution has been found
