    Welcome dogfish!
Hmm, why dont you look at a nano tank... Large enough to be stable for corals & fish & small enough not to break the bank & easier to maintain for a beginner.

Was thinking of either a four foot ( shops seem to sell that size) or get a nice 60 cm cube. Still deciding on what I want to keep.

Cubes are great. I own 2 cubes in the 60cm size range & they are fantastic.
Very easy to maintain as well.
Make sure you get one with a nice overflow & a sump is a + point.

    Welcome to MASA.
I like the look of a longer tank so I'm building a 4ft.
But it all comes down to personal prefrance. I would segest having a look at diferant setups and not photos but the actual setup and ask as much questions as you can.

Thank you for the replies. I like the idea of a cube.
Was thinking of keeping soft soft corals and a few fish for now.

    Hi Dogfish

Marine aquarium / reefkeeping is one awesome hobby.
But it takes commitment and LOTS of time and money .

I am in the hobby for 4 years now and it just gets better and better.

My own advice for you will be to read a lot. Go and visit other reefers and ask them questions.
we reefers love to talk about our tanks !

I believe there is not one perfect way of reef keeping , but there a numerous wrong ways !

    Sounds like a plan.
Hopefully I can finish my tank plan before then and I'll pick everyone's brains for ideas.

If you know what you want to keep, then build the tank, sps dept. not to deep. )shallow tank. And only going for softy corals no need for all fancy toys.
