    Hi All,

Anyone got access to any pictures of different types of joins and edges for fish tank building, have heard of polished and bevelled glass but will like to see what they look like

    Thanks

Beveled edge, is just the corner taken off with a sander to form a 45 degree angle. Looks nice.

bevelled glass edges must not be bevelled too much as it compromises on contact area for glass...to be honest most guys refer to polished edges which is basically slightly bevelled.

yesterday I came across a tank build thread in Singapore...used a method called closed injection koints..looks super neat, but have not seen it used locally. Not sure if I can post a link to the thread, but here is a pic

    Pic looks cool

Workmanship looks very neat. But for me, the little bit of silicone on the inside also helps with the tank integrity. Makes a stronger bond.

I purchased a 60x60x50cm (LxBxH) cube from Jungle Aquatics and it uses the bonding method that 4age mentioned, closed injection joints. Same design as the tank JT143 sold.

the bevveled edge you are refferring to is what a glazer calls polished, if you ask for bevelled you will get a nasty surprise when the glass arrives..

ive looked at uv bonding glass for fishtanks aswell in my time with PG but didnt get too into it.. unfortunatley..

Uv bonding apparently won't work, the joins are susceptible to moisture. At least that's what the glass company told me

If you ask for beveled glass they will ask for bevel specifications.

Just ask for BPAR which stands for Bright Polished All Round.

all ADA type tanks used this injection joints its becoming more popular, apparently the bit of silicone that sits between the two pieces of glass is the only bit that provides strength the "over run" bits on the face of the glass doesn't do much.
