    Hello all

I am sure like all of you we never put a budget together for these types of things!

My Budget to run my tank for 2010 will be R500 per month - tank is 250 litters that should be enough monthly.

that budget is for replacment of bits & pieces & running cost as well as live stock for 2010.

I would not include the power the system uses that just is to much effort.

what's your budget? & do you think I can make it?

I hope over time I get to know you guys & can swop & trade live stock & corals

    Mark

Seems a little low, unless you only buy cheap LS.

Salt can also set you back quite abit.

    Keep us informed :)

I am in JHB will be using salt & I have my own RO machine. as for additives not sure what I would need?

I will only be having soft corals for now & see if they don't die & then worry about the hard stuff when I know more about what I am doing!

What would be great is if we had a post with what additives one could use in ones tank. I hear people use stuff from the chemist & &.

Or who can help put a budget down on running a 250Lt tank

    thanks
    Mark

I think it is excellent if you can work on a budget...But like many it is not so easy...We tend to buy on impulse, when we see all the beauty thr is to buy...I have tried working with a budget but it is just not possible for me...Just my 2cents...

I am like you! this hobby is not my main hobby so find time & money is not always that easy!! lets hope that I learn enough about it to really go full steam! I don't want to spend huge money & then find it's to much like hard work!!!

I want to take it easy at first

every year its a struggle between surfing and marine fishkeeping.. but they both keep me busy at differnt times so when the surfs bad the tank keeps me going and when i feel like taking a bit of a break then i focus on surfing.. unfortunatley they are both expensive if you try to keep up to date with current technologhy so i have decided to just take it slow do one more build (so i say now) and just cruise along..

Can def be done.... i have a lower budget or should i say running cost...but i accrue my expenses over a period of 3-6months which brings my costs for each month to its lowest and not having to break into my salary when i need something

but yes can be done and its a reasonable amount as well.....
