    sup peeps

not sure where to post this but im thinking of having a new tank built and would like to know more on what you guys think?

the dimensions will be as follows

3m long x 600 x 600, the width and hight are the most i can do as i have height issues.

stand with tank on it will sit at a total height of 1.4m

i want to run a dsb , as long as possible and a ATS over the sand bed.

what you guys think? and whats the pros and cons?

Are you planning a reef or a FO system?

    Hey Dude, Love new builds.....

I would suggest going wider if possible, but also shallower, 500 would be my prefrence

    Pro's are endless
cons are the costs associated with a bigger system.

pm me me your contact details and we can chat, i am pretty good at sketchup and can help you throw a few idea's around if you like??

I also agree. Definitely a bit wider and shallower. 500 high would be saving you a lot of tom on the glass too.

Gotta agree with the other guys. The width is awesome but I'd go 700mm deep and 600mm high with water level at 500mm with some wave makers. The water alone is gonna set you back plenty plus all the water changes so rather go 500 high and use less electricity on lights and put that cash towards water and LS.

    Keep us posted...

thanks guys yeah i supose , 700 width aint so bad, and 600 depth.

my idea behind this is to close down all my other tank and just keep my cube and this one monster.

Great idea just take into account the costs of powering such a monster. Monster lighting, skimmer, Flow, etc etc

yeah i know, im think of gathering thing slowly and only once i have most of it will i go ahead with the actual build.

im afraid of getting the tank first , im going to break the bank within the first two months.

as for lighting im thinking of 4 250w MH's and t5 pure actinics.

as for skimmer well im still deciding as height is going to be an issue under this tank and may have to opt for an external that will be next to the tank.

sump will be built as follows

1st chamber very narrow with bubble traps this comparment will be for the overflow pipes,

2nd chamber will be the skimmer (pending what i can get or if i go external)

3rd chamber is DSB im hoping for a damn long one.

4th chamber a refuge (this may be taken out - ill see)

    5th chamber return

last chamber will be a closed tank that will be the top tank.

im hoping for a ATS over the DSB , but alas we shall see as i really havent much height space .

    How big Sump?
LR and Flow? Dont forget you will need a leka big return pump. U cannot not make a ATS man it will make big difference.

time to revive this thread :)

so guys im really eager to get this tank built and the dimentions have changed somewhat.

    im looking at 3m x 700 wide and 500 high with a water level at aprox 450 - 460.

will be going with euro bracing , black silicone and 50mm tubing for the stand.

looking at the all t5 route and looking at 8 globes per unit if i can get 80w units

the dimentions are not set in stone as yet, however i do have an idea on what the sump will hopefully look like.
