Hi all, I was given a T-bay light fitting and want to use it over my aquarium. I am planning on keeping mostly softies and a couple of LPS’s, would 4X 58w T5’s over a standard 4ft tank be enough light to support good growth?

nice unit that.. i have a few people using them here in East london sucessfully. the outer casing is chromadec, so besure to coat it with a good quality paint.. if you could i would suggest covering the bulbs with a cover glass but if you cant there is no harm in running it as it is..

what bulb configuration are you going to run?

Yeah 4 x 54w is fine. Thats what I have at the moment and I have a couple lps and zoas and they are doing great. The Frogspawn just split a head so they get enough light. If you put some good tubes then you will have good light

I think you mean 54w, but yeah, buy some good quality tubes and you'll have excellent lighting.

Thank you all for the advice given, I am looking at getting Giesemann: 1X Aqua-Pink, 2X Aquablue+, 1X actinic+. The fitting went in to get epoxy coated and it has a cover class for the water splash. Now I need to figure out how I want to mount it. thanks again.
