Go with halides. My tank is deep and I found the growth to stop with 330 watts of Geisemann T5's but the growth and colouration has drastically improved with one Geisemann 250 w halide

Also depends on your scaping. If your rock stack is high enough and the light loving corals placed high up, then you could get away with cheaper to run light units.

Before you swap your light units, get a PAR reader and just confirm your lightning reading on your substrate. Or lowest point you have corals.

@750mm deep mh is rge cheapest to buy. Led although expensive to purchase is cheaper to run generally.

    for sure....
    tank is 750mm deep.

Need plenty of 60 degree or narrower units that are able to reach that deep. So just the costs of the units.... well, running 1000W MH would still be cheaper.

LED are the future, but not the answer in this setup.

As far as I know, the production in Europe for any lights containing mercury will be stopped by law at 2015. So from that point all good tubes will disappear off the market. China probably will carry on producing them, maybe taking over the production of european quality tubes.
