Hi there guys,

Where in Centurion can one buy DIY kits to fit T5's to my hood.

I currently have T8's but want to convert these to T5.

Any idea on cost? What wattage etc? how many white, how many blue etc

My tank is 2000x650x600. Water level is around the 500 mark deep. I currently have 8 T8's in the hood.

You can buy endcaps and ballasts from most electrical wholesalers. I don't know what size T5's you can use, I assume the 80W ones. I know for a dual 54 T5 ballast it was about R199, I'm sure a dual 80W one wont be more expensive. The endcaps are about R30 each...

the 80w ballast are very expensive...and i only stock the single 80w ballast

i ave allot of the 24w,39w and 54w dual ballast

what do you want to keep?

80w will work well on your system, i would say about 8 x80w or 8x54w(just need to space them evenly) will work very well on your system your tank is 600mm deep right...then you can keep anything... just need to place the corals correctly;)

Pugsly, I did the full DIY on T5 39w 6 globes and 3 dual 24/39 balasts.
And the next week Lanzo announced his special on a 8*39w pendant. Adding 2 globes and another balast, the pendant would have been R300 more expensive. :(

So do check complete pendants, that is if they can fit in your hood. Even combo's.

Also the type and quality and PRICE of the globes itself makes a huge difference in the end-price.

you can also maybe use x2 pendents(8x39w globes in one pendant)

pendant is 1100mm in length...they will work you out much cheaper than DIY
