T5 Tubes

    What brand of T5 tubes do you recommend? And do the different brands really make a difference?

    i have used giesemann, love them, last 12-18 months
    used reeftek, great cheap light, changed them 8-12 months

    Do you notice a difference in the actual tank though?

    yes and no
    both make 10k, 12k, coral blue but giesemann allowed better control of the colour balance, did i get better growth, i didnt see a diff

    would i use giesemann again, yes

    ATI or giesemann are about as good as it gets. I dont know if the KZ bulbs are still available- they are also brilliant

    Sorry for the hijack - is it necessary to replace t5 bulbs individually with about a month inbetween each replacement? I have been told not to replace all at once?

    Youll notice when you add the new bulbs how much brighter they are than the old ones. Replacing all at once may cause some light shock to your corals. If you do replace all at once, run at a decreased light cycle and/or raise the light unit a bit.
