T5 Reflectors

    Go to builders and have them cut those white drain pipes down the middle. Works like a charm

    But is white better then the mirror type alluminium?

    White is a brilliant reflector, did some research on it a while ago.

    Oh and the normal reflectors are also WAY expensive

    Cool thanks man...

    I want to buy a reef inmates light unit but it has a white reflector..so thought by adding alluminium reflectors it woul dbe better...

    White is not better than the proper thing but its better than nothing while you wait. It is beter than say tin foil though. Or you could get a alanod sheet and line it on the inside of the pipe. Alanod is the material used for the reflectors.

    you can get alanod from Arcona International, Basil avenue in Ferndale, Randburg

    I think i will try all your suggestions..

    I will buy rakabos pipes from builders warehouse and line it with Marius idea and buy the alanod from dallsg contact..LOL!

    Thanks guys, really appreciate it...

    Is it difficult to bend the alanod ?

    It bends easily. Cutting is just a little bit of a mission but you can do it with a stanley knife. I used a straight edge and then just pressed hard and dragged the blade a few times in the same grove until its cut through. Just a warning, it is quite sharp once cut. Its about 1mm thick. It comes in a skeet of 1.5 X 1.2 IIRC and when I bought 2 years ago it was about R430 a sheet.
