Need some advise please, my previous system had 4 x 54w tubes, 2 x white and 2 x actinics. The specs on the switch boxes are 36w and voltage 220v/50Hz.
The lenght of the tubes 1200mm.
I want to go to 80w tubes x 1400mm lenght, would the starters be able to handle the watts or will it blowup on the long run. Each light has it's own starter with builtin switch.

You will definitely need 80w electronic ballasts.

Jip, you'd have to upgrade. It's like trying to start a V8 with only six spark plugs. ;)

Be careful, running 80w tubes on a 36w ballast seems a bit dangerous to me, you could overheat the ballast and cause a fire hazard, we've already had one reefer almost burn their house down, we wouldn't want another one. You should be able to buy these ballasts fairly cheaply at lighting stores, Warr7207 is running 80w lights, hopefully he can help us out as to where the cheapest place is to get the 80w ballasts.
