    Hey everyone,

Is it possible to run 39W T5's on a 54W ballast. The reason for asking this is that the 54W Ballasts are a lot cheaper than the 39W ballasts.

Probably would work, but for how long is the question, you my find the tube will blow.

Why not get the ballasts that are multi wattage?

The 54W ballast is the cheapest. Here are the prices I got:

    24W/39W dual R125.89
    54W dual R94.46
    80W double R141.60

It may not seem like a big difference but I need 10 of them so every little bit adds up.

Think they work the same as T8 ballast, It should work as long the W is not lower than the tube, running a 10W T8 on a 36W for more than 8 months now.

You can run 39 watt lamps on 54 watt ballasts. Gives more out put on the lamps but they dont last as long.

How much is not as long. Lets say the globes would be replaced every 12 months with the 39W ballast, how long would they last on 54W ballasts.
