1st up BEEEG thank you to Ziyad who helped me with the tools and piping for this and his Wife who assisted in putting the stuff in. He will be hopefully joining us in keeping some salt water in the coming months

So i decided to do the pipe extension mod on the DNW 150. Heres how it went down.

    Items used:

    2 - 20mm t pieces
    2- 90 degree elbows
    Couple pieces piping
    [IMG]

Using a belt sander sand the edges of the 90 degree elbows so that you can get them to fit the pipe outlet

Get someone to push the elbows in so that you know it fits(most difficult part more then likely will need a Wife or GF with thin arms to do this part will also need to put it in place once done)

Measure the lenght of pipe thats going down the skimmer
    [IMG]

Glue the t piecies and the elbows together

    Fitting skimmer cup on

    YES it still fits

    Some close ups

Now to get the Pin wheel impeller.

    What you think?

It works, check my thread, I did the same some months ago, but the credit must go to Alan, as he started it beginning last year I think. Neat job though

Allows you to get bubbles right from the bottom of the skimmer thus giving you more contact time which increases the amount of water being skimmed which equals more skimmate.

yes it can if you can get someone who can put their arms in to put the 90Deg elbows in.

Should it be done well from the people who have done it and the results that they have gotten i would say YES!:yeahdude:

    Great work.

Just one concern. Are the Two pipes that extend down, not a little too long. I would be concerned that the bubbles may extend a little too low. Which may result is quite a high percentage exiting the skimmer outlet, rather than rising up the contact chamber.

Of course the length of the pipes would also depend on the water flow through the skimmer as the faster the water flow, the shorter the pipes would need to be.

Let us know how yours works. A side on of the skimmer with a ruler next to it would be nice. Before water and after operation. Also state water flow through skimmer. For reference for any others wanting to do this including me.

Oh yes of course, sorry, I read your thread about your faulty pump, forgot about that. Don't you think that maybe your pump is cavitating because of these mods?
