    Hey people!

Friend of mine just had a sunsun pump explode, thinking the isolation around wires may have weared away.

Anyway corals are all closed, mostly softies and some lps.

We're about to do a 30% water change, fish all seem fine.

    Advice?

whoa! hardcore! How old was the pump? Generally a sun sun will break before wires could get worn out

Did it explode or just burn?

    Run some carbon as well.

+1 on the carbon.. wow hat must be some kind of contravention of a safety policy? give us more info.. was it the pump that wore or was the pump a damaged pump being used?..

He's using a sunsun seio combination, sure if cash wasn't a problem we'd all be using tunze/vortech :tt2:

Anyway we did about 40% water change, also got some carbon up and running in a DIY reactor.

    Thanks guys.

As for the pump, it was about 2 years old, and yes it EXPLODED. We fished out pieces of plastic in the water.

It was a single head one, not sure on flow.

By the looks of it I'd say water got into the transformer housing, will try to get a pic up later. I actually also had a sunsun where the power cord sleaving started to pull away from the pump and I could feel a light jolt of electricity at the water surface, got rid of that one.

Corals still not looking all that great, I wouldn't say sulking though, just closed.

Fish are a bit disturbed but I think thats because of the water change.

    Temp: 24
    Salinity: 1.024 refrac tested

I removed all my sunsun pumps and there is no more elec. shock in my tank. Put my hands in the water one day and got the shock of my life,so much so that the main tripped!! Didn't went back in my tank for a week:whistling:. got the multi meter out and tested the water it was 220v:eek:. Turned off the sunsun and tested again and it sits on something like 20v now.

I say get seio not to exspensive and last long.If yoy have or gan safe a bit Tunze!

After today I think he'll be changing the rest of his pumps. He,s got a surge setup already so won't need too many. I'm saving up for vorthech's though.
