    Hey guys and gals,

I need some advice. I recently bought a new Bubble Magus curve 9 skimmer as well as a new sump to accommodate the new skimmer (and remove my DSB). The newbie that I am I didn't measure the height of the skimmer correctly ..and it doesn't fit under the tank. So I essentially have 3 options. 1) Get a higher stand made 2) cut the crossbeams on the existing stand so the sump rests on the floor and not the stand 3) sell the curve 9 and get something smaller like the curve 5 perhaps?

The tank is around 500l and I'm currently running a ReefOctopus NW-150. I bought a new skimmer as the current one is really noisy and I wanted to upgrade anyway :)

    Any advice?

    Justin

quickest option is to get another skimmer.
Another stand means a complete tank breakdown to be able to remove current stand.

I will not go and cut the structure of the current stand. Need pictures before I can comment on that.

Speak to @ziyaadb, he could tell you which skimmer will be short enough yet powerful enough for your size tank.

Drastic measures like cutting the stand or making a whole new stand should only be considered if you really cant afford the skimmers he suggests, but remember the more expensive the skimmer the better the results for your tank generally.

Bought it from @Hassan. I'm considering seeing if I can modify my current skimmer to take a waveline dc 300 pump instead of buying a new one.

How about seeing if he wouldn't be willing to give you a refund ...

So far as modifying the pump , my older style aquamedic skimmer has an older pump tertofitted with a new shaft and meshwheel impellar and works like a charm
