150W is overkill, but it will work just fine i suppose. I run 2x energy savers. Why would you want to run that much light in a sump?

Guys I run a 150W MH and 2 atinic T5's in my one sump (there are two!)
Reason for it is the sump also acts as a place to keep small frags, and allows the chaeto ball to grow like crazy!!
Remember 2 things when putting a sump light, try make it run opposite times to your tank lights, eg let it turn on at 11pm until say 4am, this will keep the tank PH more constant. (This makes Happy corals ;-))
2nd thing what do you actually need to light in your sump! if it's corals Chaeto etc like mentioned above and you can pay your bills..... Then go for it!

Rather get a few energy savers. It all depends on what you want in the sump. If its chaeto then a few energy savers will be just fine.
