Sump Change

Hi
need to change my sump will this be Ok for Reef tank with some fish. Not to shure if I need LR arround the skimmer. 600x450x450 is the max I can use. The tank is only 900X600X600.

only thing i wouldn't do is put the skimmer on the dsb

agree with phat.create a seperate chamber for skimmer,ie put it before the DSB

The skimmer will be about 5cm above the DSB sitting on the light defuser. Their will be water movement as the return from chiller will be in the same chamber.

Is that still not a good idea?

Can you not fit the skimmer into the first compartment? What skimmer is this?

yes depending on your skimmer outlet

It is a Aqua Medic. If I hang it that way it will give more space for DSB.

Do I remove my sand in one go or remove 2cm in one bucket, and so on....

why cant you hang the skimmer on the outside of the sump??

and if you are removing an existing DSB take it slow dude!!

Worried about overflow. I go away for a couple of days to shows and get my mom to feed, and that is all she will do. Maybe must do some mods on the cup to make a overflow.

yeah i would drill a hole in the skimmers cup definately just big enough for some silicone airline tubing to fit, think 5 mm would be cool!!
