i would like some more info on building a sump. the size is 90 by 50 by 45. do you guys think 6mm glass would be sufficient for this? or should i go with 8mm? according to the glass thickness calculator it should be 8mm. but I'm not sure.. any input on the baffles will be a plus too. i would like to go the bio cubes route. so first chamber is the inlet. second chamber is the protein skimmer. what height do u think i should do the baffles at? i have no option to buy one as i live in a remote area. any input guys?

The glass calculator doesnt factor in baffles, so youd prob get away with 6mm for that size.
Design baffle height around the skimmer you getting.
If you going the cubes route, then skimmer and cubes can go in first chamber with inlet. Will you be adding a filter sock?
What else is going in the sump?

Oh lovely. That makes life a bit easier. Ok so protein skimmer than maybe some chemical filtration. Phosphate and some carbon. And a refugium with some cheato. Small. And the return. The return baffles will have a bubble trap. How do u factor in the baffles for the protein skimmer? Like determining the height?

thanks for the advice. so do you think keeping it simple with just the inlet, protein skimmer, chemical filtration, small refugium and return good enough? thats effectively 4 chambers because the first chamber is a filter sock

Hey Nadzo, I recently modified my whole sump because I wanted some space for my auto top-up. If you keep that in mind, you won't have to worry later. Just a thought.
