I need to siphon the top layer of substrate this weekend. Does anyone have any tips? The last time I tried this, I was so busy watching what I was siphoning, within a minute I drained half the tank. :blushing:

hi Gaboon - no - sorry man. I don't siphon my tank, as I have a sea cuke and star-fish that needs food.... AND a boxer shrimp that eats off the floor.... Unfortunately I can only second Ocean's comment.... This is an "active" type task - not passive...

In the Koeberg blast radius
If you have a canister filter filled with filter floss you can use that.

You will siphon out the muck it will get caught up and the water will return "cleaned" to your tank
