Hey guy's, I am still new and recently aquired a piece of live rock which had a small fish living in it. I am trying to figure out what he is. He is doing fine and is healthy. I got the rock to help cycle my tank, the tank had already been running for a month and I decided not to put fish for another month, is he safe?

sounds good, can u take a pic of the fish?
you can catch him and let a fellow reefer look after him.

i got a huge brittle starfish in my LR and he is doing great and survived the cycle.

    Thanks Gman,

I had thought it was a goby. I friend of mine got the rock in Isipingo on one of his snorkeling trips. He said I should put it in the tank for a week just to help cycle the tank, but the fish is now living in it and I don't want to disturb him. Any ideas on how to ensure that he survives the cycle?

they normally feed on detritus and micro organisms (pods etc) but if your tank is fairly new and this is not available for him, he could starve to death. try feeding flakes or pellets and monitor if he takes to it?
    Good luck..

If the fish survived, then I don't think there will be much die off from the LR and you wont have much of a cycle in the tank, I am sure he will be fine unless you put a large amount of more LR in.
