    Hi all,

How long can one store sea water and RO for?
I have a nice and cool area that I can use inside my house.

The thing is, I need to do a water change after Christmas and wont be able to collect water then.

    Thanks

You can store for quite some time, just keep them in a dark area, and rather syphon the salt water out of the drum, but not from the bottom, as that where all the stuff settles and leave the last couple litres behind.

WRT to RO, just make sure you have them in a sealed drum, as RO is like a sponge and will absorb chemicals from the air!

you can store sea water for a few weeks. Just make sure when you use it you dont aggitate it too much and leave the last little bit. While getting stored you will have die off which ,together with suspended particles, will settle to the bottom.
if you are collecting NSW, either use it straight away or leave it for a few weeks to settle. MAke sure its stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight.

    Thanks guys,

I only need to store the sea water (from 2oceans aquarium) for one week.
The RO will be in black 25L containers for about 3 weeks. My LFS is closing down over the festive season and I don't have a RO unit yet :(

Thanks 459b, I'm in Durbanville, but don't mind traveling.
I think if I get 100L of RO, I should be ok for a while.
I go through about 40L of RO a week, all depends on how warm it gets :tt2:
