Guys is it really necasery to start a tank with ro or can you fill it with normal water and after a week or two just adjust the parameters and then top up with ro when you get livestock,or wil filling up with normal water give long term problems

Filling up with normal water will give you long term algea problems... Please try to fill up with ro & salt or NSW.

Never use tap water, R/O or natural salt water is the ONLY way to go, there are so many nasties in tap water, you will do long term damage to your tank.

My own opinion is it doesn't matter for the first fill. There after R.O. is a must.
Having said that I know of people who have never used R.O. Never seen their tanks though!
