mmmm looks a little suspect.. but difficut to comment without a better pic.. it may very well be man made LR or rock that has been laying with LR.. difficult to tell kenyan LR is a greyinsh colour after well cured.. does not look like much but it blossoms with all sorts of corraline and micro life.. post another pic of the whole rock lets have a look.. but its shouldent crumble...

To follow on with this thread. I had a visit from Zoom yesterday at about 1500 hrs.
I did two tests. This is what I got:

Zoom002.jpg

Zoom003.jpg

Zoom004.jpg

She assures me the fish are or rather were alive and well, eating and behaving normally!
I saw a sample of the rock, this is NOT lava rock, it is some form of slag. I am aware of it, won't use it myself and it is certainly not worth R160.00 a kg. ( I know the going price of it from the suppliers) My advice to Zoom: Take it back, get your money back!
Why I wont use it is because it is untried.
This begs the question, are the fish ok in these shocking conditions as a result of her using Organic Aqua?
Perhaps in the course of the day Zoom will come on and tell us if her fish are still alive and well?
I do a large number of Nitrite tests and this is possibly the worst I have ever seen!
With only a few fish in an uncycled tank how did she get that high a nitrite?
This is certainly worth following up on.
Perhaps Crispin could visit her tank? She did go to his place, wher he tested for Nitrite.
