    Hi :),
I just got a tank to start a reef type tank. It holds about 300 L. How much liverock should it have? I worked out it needs 20kg but not sure if it's right. Could I then put 10kg of liverock in and 10 kg of bio rock? Because I saw that liverock is quite expensive.
After I put the rock in should I put corals or fish in first and how long should I wait to put fish or corals if I use biorock with liverock?

What about a pic before you start. Then if somethng could be done differently, it is easier to change before you wet the tank....

    Welcome to Masa,

10 KG LR will be fine and the Biorock will be ok as well.

What salt are you going to be using ? do you have a refractometer ? There is quiet a bit of reading to do before you start and i suggest you browse the interwebs :) and do some reaserch, this will save you alot of money and keep you from making mistakes.

    hope you come right

    Hey :)
I'll post pics of the hardware stuff by the weekend.

I have a refractometer and the salt is called red sea coral pro salt for reverse osmosis.

ok cool, was just making sure you had everything before you went out and splashed all your $$$ on LR.

    Pics will be great.

What equipment do you have for the tank , didnt see a post on it?

    Hey ,
trying to set up the tank but I'm not sure what goes where. It's like a big puzzle at the moment :p.

There are 2 protein skimmers, a small one and a big one. The plumbing is there for the big one on the left out of the sump. Should the small one go in the sump or better out of it or just be left out all together?

Where does the UV steriliser go?

Then there's some small black things not quite sure what those are, they not the wavemakers but the size of the wavemakers.

Sounds like the bigger skimmer is an external skimmer. Just use that one. Do not need to run the smaller skimmer.

UV sterilizer, In my opinion is a waste of time. UV globe last 3 months, so 6 weeks down the line it is at 50% effective. So if you can leave it out, I will just store it in the garage. There are guys who swear by them. But a ozone unit is better. But let us keep that argument away from your setup.

Well? that can be anything. I pressume its circulation pumps you are referring to. If yes, they go inside the display.

Best is to take some pics, resize them, upload them and show us.
