Starfish ID

I have looked all over and cannot find a name for this starfish. Please help.

Thanks, I have checked out the linka, but couldn't find anthing that looked like this creature.

Are there loads and loads of different varieties and subspecies ?

hey I have the same one. I saw it on a rock on monday night..... Must be a hitchhiker from live rock...

You are REALLY lucky if you get such a hitch-hiker - they cost between R80 & R100 at some LFS's

I have no idea where mine came from as it wasn't on my LR I added to my tank, unless it some how buried itself ????

I saw the same species selling for R250.00

The thing to watch with starfish - they are scavengers, and if you see them climbing up the sides of your tank it generally means they are hungry - i piece fish/cockle/prawn buried in your subtrate or tank floor will stop them starving - if you have no substrate - take it to an lfs - they might buy it or swap it for something.
