    Hello All,

I was wondering if there is a type of small starfish that eats the top layer off of SPS. I've noticed some of my purple calcius algae getting distinct white spots for a few weeks. Now I noticed on the bottom of my Monti Digi the same type of white blotches. It is recovering... no real damage. Looks just like a casual grazing. I'll take some pics and put them up once the fam is down for the night. Thanks for your help in advance!

PS - I've just got the new Vertex Illumina LED and it is flippin' brilliant! - couldn't resist telling someone... family isn't as amazed :p

    Glad you enjoying the light.

Be carefull not to burn your corals.

The lights are more than adequate for keeping SPS, clams etc at a depth of up to 700 deep.

Ok... Lights are definitely good enough for sps. I have them currently at 60-70% depending on color. All my sps seem quite happy. I may increase this over the next few weeks.... we will see?

Here are a few pics of the problem and what I believe is the star doing it.

I have a Flam Angel, Royal Gramma, Mandarin Goby, SLeeper Goby and a damsel. None of the fish are bothering the sps. The flame pics the tops randomly but never leaves any visible damage. All of the wite areas are low on the sps.

    I will check out garf...thanks:)
