    Hi Guys

Need to build a new stand & cabinet for my tank. Any advice on steel sizes thickness to use /

    Tank Dimensions are +/- 1600 x 650 x 650
    LR wheight 100kg +

My idea is to use a sliding mechanism for my 1,2 mtr sump to pull forward a bit for ease of maintenance

Not a DYI guru ( I still watch DYI with Riaan on SABC :p)

So you not looking for any vertical support beams to support the display tank.

Frans - I am more than sure that 40mm or 50mm square tubing would be MORE than strong enough.

Alternatively, if you want to go wood? It would be awesome too! More than strong enough...

    Thanks Dohn

Looked at your thread as well, preferably not in front

Otherwise I should have to make it slide to the side ?

Im also no DYI Guru or steel engineer, but my 2 cents,
40 x 40 x 3mm for vertical uprights in the corner and 1 in the center at the back would be more than adequate.
40 x 40 x 3mm horizontal beam at the back with H beam in the front would maybe do the trick.

There are a few things you can consider, somewhere on this site a guy had a brilliant idea of using a trolly with a container on it that he would make part of the plumbing to make doing water changes easier. Could somehow incorporate this into your stand someway if you think its also a good idea.
