    Hey guys and gals

I need some advice with my stand. I want to have something built that is strong and at the same time allows me to have as big a sump as possible.

The tank dims are 1000x600x450, so it takes 270L

I was thinking doing a angle-iron frame covered in wood panelling.

My question in if I use standard 16mm angle, would it be strong enough to have just 4 feet or should I add 6 feet(3 in front and 3 in the rear)?

Also, what would a good height be? The tank is 600mm high, so I was thinking the stand should be 900mm high from the floor.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers
    SP :)

25 mm sq tube , 3 uprights on the sides and back , leave the front open to give yourself working space in the sump.

900 high is cool , depending on how tall you are , remember the rim will then be 1,5 mtr high....might need a ladder. Also take skimmer footprint etc into account

    Thanks so much!

I'm starting fresh, so I have no skimmer yet, would you recommend i get the skimmer first and then build the stand?

    and skimmer height

And its more important to put little triangular supports into the top corners. Will prevent the stand from flexing when you move the magnet to clean the glass.

I would rather up the 25mm square tubing to 30. and loose the centre leg. On 1m stand, the leg will be more in the way than helpful.

Ask @Manic for ideas around steel strength. We tend to underestimate it.
