All I run is a Protein skimmer and Prodibio. No gadgets necessary

Surely a calcium reactor and/or kalkstirrer?

Quinton, I only use TM bio calcium. Five scoops a day maintains everything. Ruan, I will take a pic tomorrow and post it. I have found kalk stirrers too inconsistent with dosing and calcium reactors suppress the p.H of the tank so both have to be used to counter the effects

Falcon, it maintains the alkalinity perfectly. How I got to my daily dose was to drop my calcium and magnesium to below normal leves. I then worked out my alkalinity comsumption first dosing the product then retesting the next day after tweo or three days the alkalinity consumption is calculated.

Now because the stuff is balanced it has the calcium and magnesium in proportion. All I had to do now was check my calcium and magnesium and top up the gaps to get to balanced measurements. Now I only test my calcium and mag once a week and top it up if necessary but very seldom do I have to. If you buy the stuff in bulk of 10kg's it works out to R140-00 per kio. I go through about 1.4 kilos a month which is reasonable as I don't have to dose iodine, strontium, trace elements, calcium, magnesium or buffer

hmm ok got some lying around, havent used it for about the last year(as i was wrongly under the impression that it does not maintain alk levels). ive been using kalk in my reef but think this will be perfect for my nano :slayer: yeah

i can get it cheaper also if you want,i may just buy bulk(maybe even 20kg) in a months time then start using it in my bigger tanks also.let me know if you wanna take half with me.

In my case. CArx, Kalk mixed in RO reservoir, Zeo reactor, carbon, LR in sump and skimmer. No DSB.

Mek, do you rely on the zeos to keep your nutrients down? The one from Lanzo is R2000-00.
