    Hi all

to those who have sps and had them a few years do you see less growth in winter?

maybe this is more for the sunlight tank peeps?

I have my heater at 23c and the chiller at 24c,it’s the same for them all year round so no change with mine through out the year.
The only time my sps slows at all is when I intentionally don’t dose for ages or when I over feed the aquariums and expose a little extra phos beyond what the algae is coping with, they don’t get a winter or an actual summer, lol.

Logically it makes sense for growth to slow down as the intensity of the light(sun) is less in winter. In artificially lit tanks I don't think there will be a difference.

I am experiencing this very same thing at the moment...
growth slowed down during winter, although I am running extra lighting...
    SPS are colouring up now..

Seems like a sunlit tank thing...

    Maybe @Adee can advise further?

Well considering all winter i had and still have, no lights over my display tank....i still have growth as per normal.

There are though lots of factors. E.g. feeding, amount of light, flow, adequate mounts of Ca and Mg, etc....I have a sun room, so in my deepest winter days I probably still have more PUR as most guys lighted tanks. Vatso, your setup has some limits in the chimney type sunlit hole in the roof setup, whereas i get lots of ambient light all through the day. The size of your corals as well, the bigger the coral the faster it will grow. Smaller frag types u will hardly notice.
