    Hi all,

I was just doing some changes to my aquascaping and found that after I had moved a piece or LR that was propped against the back of the tank a carpet nennie had taken root half on the back pane and half on the piece of LR...

I didn't see this and pulled the piece of LR out of the water and found that i had split the poor thing in half right through it's mouth down to its foot.....

My question is this : Do i leave both pieces in the tank or do i take them/it out? Will it survive and "become two nennies" or should i remove it before it starts decomposing?

    HELP! :(

Only one way to find out. I rate give it a day or 3 and see how it looks. It may bounce back if it was pretty healthy.

Difficult one, it may or may not survive. There have been a few stories of Carpet anemone's being successfully cut, but then again there have been quite a few failures as well. 50/50 chance I think, you'll have to monitor it closely and see what it does, if one of the halves does deteriorate it will generally happen pretty quickly.

How long has it been in your tank?

Thanks gents. I'll keep an eye on the nennie/s for the next couple of days.

I've had the 2 in my tank for a month now perhaps 2. The 1 that I split has amazing colours - closest I can describe is that it looks like a bicycle wheel with different coloured spokes. I've ordered a camera online and it should arrive this week so I'll be taking pics soon.

    Thanks again guys.

Hows the nenny looking? If they start going south please get them out of your main display ASAP.
