    If you needed a new excuse not to drink water, here is a good one: fish fart in it. That is according to a video from National Geographic. Some types of herring pass gas to communicate. However, whales and dolphins might hear these noises too and intercept those messages. Feel free to watch the embedded video above in which you’ll be able to hear the fish “communicate” underwater. So the next time your significant other asks why you did what you did, you can simply reply that you were communicating. Note: you might want to make sure your couch is comfy to sleep on for the night.

    Maybe it's an involuntary communication when they see that a shark is about to chow them? That would be my first reaction as well. .
