LOL - do you have pics Christiaan? I have some pics somewhere of green/black sun-coral growing on the reefs at Aliwal Shoal (KZN).

OK found it - does it look like this? Please excuse the picture quality. I don't have the best camera for SCUBA diving pictures (and the current was pumping that day too ;))

Funny thing, Christiaan - I never saw any HUGE colonies of these black/green sun-corals at Aliwal - one small clumps like these.

At Protea Reef (I think it was northern banks), I saw HUGE colonies of yellow sun-corals - at +-33/34 meters deep.... The colonies was +-20 square meters in size!

As far as i know they dont get very big( more a question than a statement ), and although called sun corals, when kept in your tank, they should be kept under leadges and out of the direct light, also feed at night.
Ive had the red, ( i think it was coloured red as the tenticles were orange when it came out to feed.

yeap, on the night dive i saw a load of the usual sun's that we are used to but when snorkelling i found really dark ones that looked like your tree but i thought they were dead, wish i was still there so i could have a look again, i also now have a profound fear of lionfish :y13:

The guys in Durb's pay R200 for a post office stamp and are allowed to catch fish and things in KZN. Is Sodwana not in KZN?
