    Hi,

tank is just about to complete the cycle, but I have terrible brown algae issues. (Ammonia just under 0.2, nitrite 0, nitrate around 10).

Thought I should start looking for snails to combat the scourge, before it gets too out of hand.

I have a few tiny hitchikers thanks to @mala1610, and they are eating like crazy, but need ones with more substance as it is visibly growing from morning to evening.

    Groovy.

Switch off your lights rather for a while, skim the cr@p outa the tank, run GFH and employ a nitrate fixing / removing methodology.

    Tank age?

Introducing snails not a good idea at this stage.....

Ivan, tank is 2 weeks old at the moment, but most of the contents (sand rocks) was from mature tanks. Been using stability as well to keep tank healthy.

Lights been reduced to 2 4 hour sessions already, skimmer been running 24/7 for the last 3 days, and have done 2 water changes of about 20% each.

I inherited some mushrooms on some live rock, and subsequently moved some Xenia's from mala.

On the down side, some chop at the pet store recommended something for coralline algae growth, which I have dosed twice in the beginning. I think this is the primary cause though.

You should be running your skimmer 24/7 from day one.

Careful.... Rather understand the product before you knock the chop or the product?

2 weeks old? Mature rocks or not, was gravel disturbed during move? What was depth of sand in original system?

    Filtration setup?

Been running for 14 hours from day 1, but the cup used to be empty and was advised against it. Criticism taken, and hind sight dictates you're right, but I have a new problem now.

Product pushed my PH up too high which is why I stopped. Sand from a DSB system, and not the original sand from the tank. It is an RSM 250. Used RO water for the tank, and filled from empty.

30Kg of rock, half from mature environments. Lots of funky stars inside them that reach out when feeding, kinda white and thin. Some clean sand from my sand bed.

Hi bud, think that will be a great idea.
You will get allot more activity on the thread.

Lets rather treat the symptoms than putting a bunch of snails in your tank.

With dedication you can easily beat the problem!

    Yip, close please.

I noticed this morning that some of the stars inherited from @mala1610 are making in roads at the back of my tank. Will open a new thread this afternoon when I have more recent water params and updated pics.
