    Found this guy crawling around in my Zoa's last night, have sumped him for now.

    Is he safe or should I get rid and dip my zoas?

    both these are of the family Muricidae and this family are mostly other mollusc eaters.
    Also the shell looks too short to be Muricidae.

    Let me get to my books

    I also thought this at first but after looking at more pictures I'm not too sure. The pic I took came out very yellow, it is a more white/cream color.

    @RiaanP thanks :)

    ok my snail aunty's reply

    Well, this one seems to be a baddie. Eats corals. Yikes.

    Just google it first to confirm that the ID is correct.

    Just a question, did you find it local? or did you collect anything from out coast local?

    Or do you suspect it to be a hitchhiker? If hitchhiker, can I have it. Dead or alive. I want the shell. My snail aunty collects. If you think we reefers are crazy... should see her collection.

    @RiaanP I actually got the zoa's with the tank i bought from Jaco Shoeman, I haven't added much to the tank since I bought it other than a pin cushion and an open brain which I doubt it tagged along with. You are more than welcome to have it dead or alive :) It's in my sump at the moment so will be easy to find, just let me know where to drop it off or where you can collect and it's yours.

    I got another not reef safe snail moving around in my sump for the last couple of months. Also a hitchhiker. So they can survive, obviously depending on species. Next Joburg meeting perhaps.
