Hi, I am new to this and I have a custom tank that I want to use to set up a marine aquarium. As from what I have read it is quite important to get the lighting right.

    My tank dimensions are 55cm high X 30 wide X 35 depth.

I see quite an important requirement is a actinic light and all the shops I have been to in and around centurion don't stock them in the size I need, mine has to be less than 30 cm, I can get the normal white florescent tubes in white, but what am I to do for the Actinic ones seeing that as far as I understand the coral needs this to grow?

    Cheers

you could probibly get away with a DIY strip light setup.

Thats the perfect size for a single Vertex Illumilux LED

300mm long Illumilux cree LED unit

    R1650

Or you could look at a solarmax 36 watt LED unit

    R1550

Most clip on LEDS are a waste of time for a system 550 Deep dont waste your money.

To be safe stick with Cree based LED units for tanks 500mm or deeper
