    Hello every one,

I have plans of making a smaller tank, this is is because i cant afford to get nice equipment for sps in my bigger tank.
So any ideas please speak as i am open everything anyone has to say.
So to start my plans are to make a 80x50x45(only 40 will be showing)cm tank as this is not to big but has enough space for fish to swim, and shallow enough for the sps to get nice light.
I will be using a Reef octopus skimmer in a 1.2m sump
light: 150watts with phoenix bulb and 2 pure actinics giesemann(24w) bulb with 4 36watts JBJ power compact T5 or 150watts (dont know bulb) 4 pure actinic giessemann bulb(24w) and 2 36watts JBJ power compact T5
+-25kg live rock with some bio
2 wm 1 boyu wave makers
I will post the sump idea later and tank drawing

please help with any advice you can offer especially with lighting,
thanks:thumbup: (the tank will only happen when finances come in, im just planning now)

The depth of the water column is going be 400mm, right. Then why not just go with T5's ?

Hi Jason. With the amount of money you going to spend on equipment LR etc.... wouldnt that amount of money help in improving you current tank? When you say nice equipment, what are you thinking about? Just a thought. :)

Mekaeel, i waqnt to go smaller because of the amout i need to upgrade on the bigger tank. so if i use the same equipment on the smaller tank as i was on the bigger then every thing will b e big anough.
Well this is what im planning i need the most help on the lighting as i dont have final plans on this, i thought of going t5 only but then with the current MH i should get some bloody nice colour and growth as i will also use t5 to prevent shadows.

Well I think no one is commenting cause, everything looks a-ok!!!actually better than ok!Good design and with the proposed lighting it will be over enuff light for any sps!and the only thing i was wondering was heat!but since you already asking what PC fan to use, you have obviously thought of it...

is all your equipment and sump etc going to be hidden in a fish room or some thing? if you do have the space to hide stuff then y not just go for a carlson surge device?DIY!!!

This is the sump, it is big because i plan to use it on two tank on tanks eventualy.
    What you think

The full sump is 120cm in length all nos mean cm.
    A) the skimmer will go here as well as the inlet pipe
    B)The DSB
C)I will have chaeto under the frag tray,
D)I will have all my small sps frags here on a egg crate, i will also have a nano hydor koria here.
E)on these two 2cm out pieces of glass i will have egg crate resting as for easy removel if needed
    F) after the water goes threw the bubble trap the water water will go back to the diplay tank
    G) there is a 1cm gap as if the water got cloged or something the water would not flood the floor but rather go over to the next chamber.

    Enjoy, any advice is welcome.

GREAT design Jason - just a little too many compartments in my honest humble opinion....

Why don't you see if you can get 2 ReSun 15000's cheaply, and do the DIY wavemaker design that Matt posted a while back?
I am just waiting for Thalion to assist me with the electronic bits, then I am going to do EXACTLY that in my 2 metre..... add 2 clear PVC/plastic (or glass) boxes, with holes in them for the ReSuns.... and then both the ReSuns connected to a timer fed by a power-supply...... Switching on-and-off, every 30 seconds or so.....
